| 2000年、Mike Portnoy（当時：DREAM THEATER）、 Neal Morse (当時：SPOCK'S BEARD)、Pete
Trewavas (MARILLION) と Roine Stolt (THE FLOWER KINGS)によって結成されたスーパー・プロジェクト。 2000年に1ｓｔアルバム、2001年に2ndをリリースし、ツアーも行ったが、Neal Morseの個人的な理由で活動が一時停止。 しかし、2009年に劇的な復活を遂げ、続く2010年のツアーでは、High Voltage Festival Prog Stageでのヘッドライナーを務めるなど大きな話題となった。そして、その年のベスト・コンサート、ベスト・ライヴDVDなどの賞を多く獲得しました。 こちらは、そのHigh Voltage Festivalでの映像。 とにかく、このバンドはライヴを見ていただきたいです。ツアーには、PAIN OF SALVATIONのDaniel Gildenlöw (2010)や、Ted Leonard (2014)が同行しており、フロントの4人は当然ながら、彼らの大活躍も必見。多くのミュージシャンにもリスペクトされるモンスター級の凄いバンドです。 とりあえず、ディスコグラフィーだけまとめましたが、コメント等は徐々にアップしていきますので、宜しくお願い致します(_ _ |

| 原題は「Whirld Tour 2010 - Live from Shepherd's Bush Empire, London -」。邦題は「ライヴ・イン・ロンドン」。 2009年に劇的復活を遂げたTRANSATLANTICのライヴDVD。収録は2010年5月21日のロンドン公演。サポート・メンバーとして、前回ツアー同様、PAIN OF SALVATIONのDaniel Gildenlöwを擁し、9年前よりも更にパワーアップした迫力のライヴを行った。あれだけの曲を楽しげに、しかもサラリと演奏してしまう様子は、まるで”怪物”。かつての”スーパー・プロジェクト”は”モンスター・バンド”に形を変えた。長尺の曲も途中でダレることなくタイトで、全く退屈さを感じさせない。80分に及ぶThe Whirlwindでさえ、スタジオ盤こそ少々クドさを感じたが、このライヴでは時の経つのを忘れるほどで、聴き始めたら途中で止まらない。 本作にはミキシング以外のオーバーダブや修正等は行われていない。、「ライヴ感」を大切にするためだ。ただ、ちょっとしたこぼれ話だが、編集（カット）部分がある。実は、この日はNeal Morseがうっかり自分のリード・ヴォーカル・パートを歌い忘れてしまい、しばらく演奏だけになってしまった所がある。Nealは、Mikeの方をしきりに見ていたが、自分の番だと気付かず、Roineが仕方なく「君の番だよ」と言う風に腕を差し出して合図。Nealが照れ笑い・・・という一件があったのだ。キレイにカットされているので、今となってはどの部分だったか忘れてしまったが、Peteがちょっと苦笑しているように見える場面があるので、そこだったのかもしれない。 Documentaryは、ツアーをアメリカからヨーロッパへと順に追っていき、バック・ステージなどを撮影したもの。一緒にツアーしている感覚になれる。終盤に近づくにつれて、ちょっとお疲れ気味になっていくメンバーの様子も面白い。 Bonus trackのThe Return of the Giant Hogweedは、7月24日のHigh Voltage Festivalの模様。元GENESISのSteve Hackettを迎えてのカヴァー曲演奏は、本人たちにとっても忘れられない思い出となっただろう。 (2011/02/27) YouTubeで見てみる♪The Whirlwind - Overture/Whirlwind - |

Mouserのミックスによるものだった。 しかし、このRoineミックス・バージョンがファンの間で出回ってしまったため、正式リリースということになった。こちらの方は、Peteのベース音が、よりくっきりと際立ったロック・オリエンテッドな重みのあるサウンドになっている。Roineは兼ねてから（もちろん今でも）Peteのベースが素晴らしいので、もっと目立つようにした方が良いと語っている。 |

| Mike Portnoy、Neal Morse、Pete TrewavasとRoine Stoltによるスーパー・プロジェクトの1stアルバム。 いきなり30分を超える圧巻の大曲"All of the Above"から始まり、Neal作曲による穏やかなバラッド"We All Need Some Light"、Mikeによる、ちょっとトリッキーでノリのいい"Mistery Train"など、バラエティに富んだ選曲。Roineの曲がオリジナルの"My New World"はプログレらしいドラマティックな佳曲。また、PROCOL HARUMのカヴァー"In Held (Twas) In I"は、プログレ度増強で迫力もある。 当時発売された限定盤Disc2には、デモやスタジオ・ジャムの模様などが収録された。中でも、Roineが歌う"We All Need Some Light"は、彼自身、この歌が好きと語っているくらいなので、魂のこもった、しっとりとした歌い方が素晴らしい。 ただ、このDisc2は、実際の収録曲とタイトルが合っていないので要注意。１）My New WorldのNealリード・ボーカル・ヴァージョンが何故か2）になっているせいで、2曲目以降がズレてしまった。 Interactive Sectionには、スタジオでの様子が映像で収録されている。 |
